Warlord Games has some phenomenal British Commandos for Bolt Action. The all plastic box set allows you to build 25 British commandos and the detail is what you would expect.
There are enough options to make plenty of unique characters and poses...
you get a decal transfer sheet with unit markings and a diagram showing you what each piece is on the commando body sprue and the weapons sprue
There are three weapons sprues which contain everything from grenades and pistols to rifles and a PIAT anti tank gun. You also get Thompson and Sten sub-machine guns along with picks and shovels and a 2-inch mortar.
There are five commando body sprues consisting of for upright poses and one kneeling pose.
You get 8 different head choices plus a coice of helmets or commando berets.
Here we have the first squad assembled along with the sniper and PIAT team. It took a few hours watching British commando YouTube videos to assemble these guys.
And after another long night of World War 2 videos, everyone was pretty much together.
OK now we are primed with Army Painters British Armour. Our first squad of 10 commandos consists of one NCO, one commando with a Bren LMG and the other eight with either Thompson or Sten machine guns.
You have to love the handlebar mustache!
The second squad consists of one in 1 NCO, 1 Bren light machine gun and 8 rifleman with Lee Enfield rifles.
We tried to get several unique action poses. Here we have a rifleman about the chuck a grenade at those pesky Germans
And this commando is stalking in with his Smatchet knife at the ready. He also has his Fairbairn-Sykes commando knife strapped to his thigh.
Next we equipped these two guys with a PIAT anti tank gun for some extra fire power. The loader has the task of carrying all the munitions. We also put the case on his back for a little extra weight.
Here is our sniper team ready for action.
Now we need to put them to the test! We'll have the inaugural commando battle report up shortly.
And last but not least a commando with a 2 inch light mortar. This light mortar was very portable and helped the commandos fend off larger units of Germans.
Until then, have a great battle!
