Dr Who Miniature Game from Warlord Games

OK all you Whovians, Warlord Games has secured the licence to produce a miniatures game based on the BBC's Doctor Who

Warlord is extremely pleased to have the chance to bring this iconic series to the tabletop with a game system you all know and love as well as the official range of miniatures to complement it.

The licence covers not just the latest series of Doctor Who but encompasses all of the Doctors, their companions and their foes. So, expect to see Sea Devils as much as Weeping Angels, Leela as much as Martha Jones, and a long, brightly colored scarf as much as a fez.

Keep an eye on the Warlord Games website for further details or sign up to the Doctor Who Miniatures Game newsletter on their site.

We like the detail you get from Warlord Games, but if you can't wait, Black Tree Designs has a current selection of older Dr Who figures including Daleks!

And remember - don't blink. Whatever you do, don't blink...

New Release: Pike & Shotte Baggage Wagon from Warlord Games

This superb new resin-and-metal baggage wagon is now available to order from Warlord Games in their Pike & Shotte line.

If you like objective based scenarios in other genre of games like Warhammer Fantasy, a couple of these would make for a sweet nights gaming. Attacking or defending, a baggage train was always key to defeating or sustaining an army.

Baggage Wagons were essential for every army on campaign. They would be used to carry the portable equipment and supplies of an army, with hundreds of baggage wagons forming an army's supply train.

These were multi-purpose vehicles, but were particularly used to transport hay and forage for horses, and food and supplies for the soldiers. However, as well as food, ammunition, animal fodder, and loot, the baggage wagon would carry the servants of the officers; tradesmen, such as armorers, farriers and blacksmiths; and the wives and families of the troops.

North Star Kadesh - New Release of 28mm Biblical Miniature Line

North Star Kadesh
North Star Miniatures is about to launch a new range of 28mm metal figures titled North Star Kadesh. This will be a line of figures you can use to refight the 1274BC Battle of Kadesh.

North Star Kadesh Egyptians
The first releases are the New Kingdom Egyptians and Sea Peoples, and will be followed by Hittites and Allies. This will launch into a wider 'Biblical' range and the figures are being sculpted by North Star's staff designer, Steve Saleh.

North Star Kadesh Egyptians Chariot
The impetus for the range was a combination of Steve's enthusiasm for the period, and North Stars association with masters of laser-cut MDF, 4Ground. 4Ground produced a "Pharaoh's Chariot" kit in MDF for North Stars "Of Gods and Mortals" figures to go with Osprey Publshing's game.

The model was too good for just one box set, thus they began thinking about a wider range. So the New Kingdom Egyptian chariots in the North Star Kadesh range are laser-cut MDF kits.

Unlike this image of the Sea Peoples, the range is not all photographed as yet. Check out the May issue of Wargames Illustrated, (# 319), there is an interview with North Star's designer, Steve Saleh.

In it, he talks about himself, his work and influences, but also gives you a step-by-step guide to figure design. The figure he uses in this guide is the new Egyptian Standard Bearer pictured here.

The June 2014 issue 320, will include an article written by North Star's staff painter Kev Dallimore on painting the same model, as shown in the photo above.
